Christmas 2009

Ephesians 3:14-19 When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth, I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.  May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

What a wonderful day!

Lots of fun opening the presents this morning.  It was a bit of a hard year, but we were all very creative with gift ideas..  (I gave David a new box of vacuum cleaner bags along with an official proclamation declaring 2010 "The Year of Excessive Vacuuming."  He does love a clean floor.)

We have eaten well, laughed a great deal and enjoyed one anothers company.  We are now snuggled up in the den by the fire watching the Titans. (That is not going too well at the moment.)

I have had a bit of a growing pain since Katie spent most of  the day at Kameron's house, but I think I'll survive it okay.  I am thankful that all the children are well, happy and healthy.

Many blessings to you and yours!

My New Year's Psalm

(Written almost a decade ago, but still the cry of my heart.)

You have made me to be so much more than I am
in holiness,
righteousness,
discipline
and love.

You have called me to be so much less than I am
in vanity,
idleness
and pride.

I cry out for you to empty me.
I thank you for filling me,
thrilling me,
loving me.

Oh, gracious, beloved, eternal Lord!
I am awed by your care of me,
grace so free,
on my knee I fall.

I struggle to walk while my soul yearns to run.
Dying flesh can be so heavy.

Victory is mine!
I will not lose the fight,
the way,
the faith.

Yes, Lord! Yes!
I'm forever yours.
Your plan is mine.
Obedience makes my path straight.

What a Journey!

What a journey parenting is! I vaguely remember the years before we had children, but there were only about three of them, which is in the n...
