Picture of the Kenya Girls

Katie and I are mailing out our letters asking for prayer and financial report for our trip to Kenya. I love the picture we took to put on the postcards.

If you would like to help us through prayer or finances let us know and we will make sure we mail one out to you.

Lampost

Well, the very nice people from Nashville Gas made it by the day after David's birthday and got the lamp working. Hurray! It looks very nice and is quite bright. Now we are making plans to put a small garden around it as David is concerned about it getting bumped hard enough to cause the mantle to break. Actually, I have lots of plans for the yard this year, but not sure exactly where to start. Time will tell.

Birthday time

Whew! It is whirlwind birthday time. Our friend, Jeff, had his almost two weeks ago but we celebrated with a yummy chocolate cake yesterday. Today is David's birthday and I have a strawberry cake waiting for me to frost it. Tomorrow is Mike's birthday (14!) and he hasn't told me yet what kind of cake he wants.

Unfortunately I haven't done a very good job planning celebrations this year. All David wanted was to get our gas lamppost in the front yard working. I called Nashville Gas today and they assured me it was probably no big deal and they would come out and take care of it today. But, alas, I pulled into the driveway and it wasn't on.

Mike has been very low-key about his birthday. He has a soccer game tomorrow after school, then he wants to order dinner from Pizza Hut. He's not having any kind of party, either.

I feel like I should be doing a much better job of this birthday thing...

Which is worse?

Rushing around so much in the morning that you put your pants on backwards or not even NOTICING it until you go to the bathroom around lunchtime?

(No, this isn't a hypothetical question. It is just another day in my life.)

My boss pointed out that no one would know if I hadn't announced it, but I figure why would I keep something that funny all to myself? It's not like anyone is going to say, "Wow, I really thought Nicole had it all together until that backwards pants thing happened."

Besides, how else could I explain my random bursts of laughter throughout the afternoon?

Spring Break "to-dos"

Okay, so we just can't do it all.

We still haven't made it to see Horton, but I'm sure it will be out on video by Christmas.

I gave up on cleaning the vehicles, but did get the house a bit spruced up.

There is one less box to unpack.

Our passports are in. My photo looks like Jabba the Hut

I finished up the taxes yesterday.

Katie's dress is hanging in the closet, along with the shoes to go with it. I still need to get it hemmed, though.

All in all, not too shabby.

What a Journey!

What a journey parenting is! I vaguely remember the years before we had children, but there were only about three of them, which is in the n...
