Living in Narnia


We have been hard at work on our lamppost. It's been sanded and painted, the glass cleaned, the mantles changed and a new ladder rest (that nifty cross piece) attached. All that's left is polishing the brass eagle on top and figuring out how to turn the gas on. I may be planting a rose bush by it to keep folks from bumping it and knocking the mantles out. (Any excuse to plant something!)

It looks a bit like we are living in Narnia. Maybe I should use a wardrobe for some yard art.

Katie is 15-Believe it or Not!




Well, Katie is 15. She is studying for her driver's permit and I don't know what to do with that....

She had her friends over to help her celebrate and did all her own decorating. We went to soccer with the boys and by the time we came home she had the back yard looking great. I offered to help but she preferred to do it on her own. She had a luau/Asian party with tiki torches, coconut drink holders and all the trimmings.

A fun time was had by all and mom and dad just kept looking at each other and saying, "We can't be old enough to have a 15-year-old, can we?"

Apparently, we can.

My Room




I have been having fun decorating my favorite room, the backyard. We have three birdfeeders that have been drawing quite a crowd and we got a field guide so we can try to identify them. I planted some tomato plants, rosemary and basil in a bed by the patio, and added some metal edging and little metal decorative stakes in an attempt to keep children and Kaylee out of them. That has been moderately successful...

I also planted some impatiens and sweet William that seem to attract Kaylee, since she spends so much time sitting on them. We got some tiki torches for Katie's birthday party and added them to the landscape, as well as a plastic table for the patio.
